This year's event is coming up on Thursday September 17th. We are thrilled to be hosted again by Avenue D Events, located at 3008 4th Ave S! The art sale will be 5:30-8:30pm and the performances will begin at 6:30pm. Food and beverage will be provided. The event is free to attend, but we are always graciously accepting donations to support InToto's artists and programs. We hope to see you there!
Each year, InToto gives voice to our participating artists through a public facing community arts showcase. Artwork and performances are developed under the guidance of InToto teaching artists during our weekly classes and presented to the Birmingham community. Our Voices is an opportunity for InToto artists to show off their creations and get the opportunity to earn income through an 80% commission on their art sales and stipends for performances.
This open-to-all event is a time to celebrate the power of the arts as a tool for catharsis and therapeutic healing and to recognize the immense impact on these lives. We have found that these beautiful community gatherings are helping to break down preconceptions around stigmatized issues like homelessness, disability, and mental illness in our city. Our Voices brings people together that may not otherwise get a chance to listen to or learn from each other. We want to live in a community where we are not judged by the hardships that we face, but are honored for our creative and community contributions, and Our Voices is helps to bring us closer to this dream!
We want this wonderful programming to be accessible to all, regardless of economic status. There is no entry fee to join us for the art show and live performances, with complimentary refreshments included. However we encourage donations for those that are able to not only help us cover the cost of the event, but to support InToto's programs year-round.
