"The Company We Keep is an art exhibition at Birmingham Public Library's Central Branch from August 14th to October 28th.  The show brings together artwork created through InToto's community-centered, healing arts programming for people impacted by social and economic hardships.  This collection is an expression of the many ideas shared in InToto's classrooms and community events and explores the ways our identities and communities are shaped through relationships, place, and shared experience.  At the heart of the exhibition is a collaborative textile faces collage, a collective portrait that celebrates the diversity, individuality, and interconnectedness of the people who make up our community.  Together, the works reveal a community that is beautifully shaped by many voices, experiences, and stories.  

Complementing the exhibition is a Creative Movement workshop on Saturday, August 29th at 3pm in the BPL Central Branch Grand Commons.  Led by InToto teaching artists, students will explore the themes of the show through movement-based games and embodied expression.  All bodies are suitable for this all ages class, where we will consider how we shape the communities and the spaces we share."
